Message from the President

Members are always telling us how much they appreciate our programs. This month, lighting professionals can learn about WELL Building Standards and how to become certified. The Section is going to review products addressed by the Progress Report Committee at the recent IES National Conference, so now you have a chance to see what you missed. We are also collaborating with DLFNY to explore the next generation lighting systems. More information about these programs and upcoming ones can be found on our website.

Lighting designer Angelica Santana has put out a call to colleagues in the lighting community to contribute to her disaster relief efforts for Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria, which knocked out the island’s power grid. She has set up a donation portal via YouCaring, a crowd-funding website designed for “providing free and easy online fundraising and support for humanitarian causes.” We thought our members would want to know about it, and consider donating to the effort.

Sincerely,
Caleb Mckenzie, President
New York City Section of The Illuminating Engineering Society
