Message from the President

Mike Barr, MIES
IESNYC Section President

Several of you reached out to me personally asking about our Section’s diversity. We are pleased to be a part of the collaboration effort with the New York chapters of IALD, DLF, and WILD for Equity in Lighting Design (ELD), spearheaded by Elaine Cook of Moxie Lighting, Francesca Bastianini of Sighte Studio, and Lana Lenar of zeroLUX lighting design. The goal of ELD NYC is to commence a long-term initiative to address diversity and inclusion within the lighting community. Our hope is that we can strengthen this community by having it reflect the diversity of our country through the tools of outreach, educational events, and industry policy.

A survey was developed to help us determine a quantitative baseline of the demographics and background of the New York lighting community. Due to tremendous feedback, the survey deadline has been extended to September 14, 2020. We urge you to complete the survey and encourage your colleagues, bosses, and friends within the lighting community to fill it out as well. Click here for Survey
