Richard Kelly Grant Proposals are Being Accepted for 2025

Proposals must be submitted by June 30, 2025

The Richard Kelly Grant recognizes and encourages creative thought and activity in the use of light. Cash award(s) will be granted to the person(s) who preserve and carry forth Richard Kelly’s ideals, enthusiasm and reverence for light. Anyone 35 years or under, studying or working in the art and/or science of illumination, in the United States, Canada or Mexico is eligible.  LEARN MORE 

 

Congratulations to the Winners of the 2025 IESNYC Student Lighting Competition

The IESNYC is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2025 IESNYC Student Lighting Competition. The Grand Prize was awarded to Veronica Gonzalez, Clay Mohrman, and Callie Walton from the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID). Participants developed three-dimensional design studies that addressed issues such as glare, flicker, and spectral spikes while creating thoughtful lighting solutions that prioritize viewer comfort. The competition attracted over 130 projects, with approximately 200 students competing individually and in teams. VIEW ALL WINNERS

 

IESNYC Members Receive Lifetime Achievement Awards

Congratulations to our members Francesca Bettridge, Glenn Shrum, and Paul Tarricone for being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The 10th Annual Awards program was held March 17th and celebrated lifetimes of dedication, innovation, and leadership within the lighting industry. The honorees represent a diverse group of pioneers, educators, and innovators who have made significant contributions to lighting and touched the lives of many in the process. MORE

 

IESNYC Mentorship Highlight with Jean Jacques

Randy Reid, editor of designing lighting (dl) interviewed Jean Jacques, Chair of the IESNYC Mentorship Program to discuss the challenges and success of the pilot program. "Mentorship is about accessibility and creating connections," Jean explained in the interview. "It's not about shortcuts but rather fostering guidance and mutual respect.
