IES Webinar Applying ANSI/IES TM-30 Metrics in Lighting Design

This webinar offers an overview of the application of color rendering in lighting design, from schematic design to design development to documentation and beyond. It focuses on Annex E of TM-30 along with the forthcoming LP-30, which both provide guidance on the use of TM-30. Annex E provides recommendations for specifying light source color rendition and is a valuable tool for selecting light sources that meet color rendering requirements. LP-30, expected to be released later this year, will be a specifier-oriented document that explains how to optimize each step of the color rendering design process to achieve the most desirable results. This webinar is an ideal opportunity to learn how to evaluate and specify the color properties of light sources. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of specifying color rendering using TM-30.”

Webinar participants are eligible for one and a half (1.5) IES Continuing Education Unit (CEU).

SPEAKERS

Hugo Solano MSc, LC, MIES is a senior lighting designer at Lux Populi and a professional with 12 years of experience in architectural lighting design. He holds a Master of Science degree in Light and Lighting from The Bartlett in the U.K. which he earned with honors. His work has been recognized with an IES Award of Distinction, amongst other awards from the Iluminet Biennale. In addition to his expertise in lighting design, Hugo has a strong interest in color science and is an active member of the IES Color Committee. He aims to bring lighting science and color science together in his architectural lighting design practice.

Michael Royer is a Senior Lighting Engineer at PNNL, where he focuses on the development of LED technology. His emphases are human factors experiments and developing new metrics and test methods, especially for color, glare, flicker, and long-term performance. Michael is a member of the IES Color Committee and Technical Procedures Committee, and is also active with the CIE. Prior to joining PNNL, Michael earned a Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering from Penn State University. Michael was named a future leader of lighting by LD+A magazine in 2010, and has authored over 50 journal articles and government reports, receiving the 2013 Taylor Technical Talent Award from the IES for his published work.
