Conference Highlights for LEDucation 2025
- On Thursday, March 13, the virtual agenda begins with smart lighting in residential settings followed by a panel of heavy hitters presenting the revised LP-6 Lighting Control Systems, published by the Illuminating Engineering Society. Sessions on the latest digital tools, human-centric lighting metrics, and light pollution are also being presented. Yun-hsuan Tsai from HLB Lighting explores hospice environments.
- On Friday, March 14, LEDucation online welcomes WELL Building expert, Martin Mercier in a panel discussion on looking beyond the WELL v2 standard. Robert Soler will walk through the design considerations needed to support the recommendations put forth by RP-46. Andy Powell and Dean Brockob discuss strategies to battle value engineering. Forest Flager introduces ways that lighting industry professionals are already using AI in practice. Batteryless controls, visualization tools, and emergency lighting inverters are all covered in depth.
- Two full days of in-person seminars and panel discussions include the upcoming energy code changes, wired and wireless DALI controls and product certifications, replaceable components in LED luminaires, and how the lighting industry can support education for the next generation. Sustainability experts will share their insights on what we can do now to make a difference, and the challenges that lie ahead.
- Hot-button issues include safety and light at night, specifying healthy and sustainable products, storytelling as a sales tool, lighting for neurodivergent people, horticultural lighting solutions, bird-friendly lighting solutions, and the impact of views in the built environment.
- Case studies include bridge lighting by Domingo Gonzalez Associates, lighting and safety analyses in the East Village, and Charles Stone discussing his work on historic and heritage buildings. Elías Cisneros highlights the challenges and importance of integrated technologies at La Plancha Park on the Yucatán Peninsula.

2025 IESNYC Student Lighting Competition
LEDucation attendees are invited to the 2025 IESNYC Student Lighting Competition presented by LEDucation in the Trianon Ballroom. Over 100 student projects will be on display throughout the two days of LEDucation where attendees can celebrate the ingenuity and hard work of these talented students. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and support the next generation of the lighting industry. The 2025 challenge, "A Sight for Sore Eyes" challenges local New York students to share an eyesore experience and construct a three-dimensional study to solve the visual discomfort of viewers. The awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 18th at 5:00 PM.
