ICYMI—A Decade of Inspiration: Moonlighting 2024 Exhibit

October 23rd, 2024. The IESNYC, DLFNY, and the IALD New York Chapter gathered the local lighting community to enjoy the company of colleagues and their after-hours creative pursuits. Forty-six lighting professionals shared an array of artistic passions, nearly twice the number that exhibited at the first Moonlighting in 2015. Artists showed amazing photography, doodles, graphic design, light sculpture, portraiture, landscapes, collage, watercolors, ceramics, pastels, woodworking, and more. The works portrayed the artists’ travels, memories, principles, and moods, all captured in stillness. Meanwhile, "The Unspecified Alternates" Band rocked the house with a short set.
Anne Rainbow Savage, Senior Lighting Designer at Fisher Marantz Stone, expressed appreciation for the dozens of generous Moonlighting sponsors, particularly host and event sponsor Acuity Brands. “The Moonlighting event gives us the chance to see people in our industry, beyond what’s printed on their business card. As a Moonlighting liaison and artist, I’m proud to share my work, which often leads to conversations about the creative process. With the number of artists participating this year, 300+ attendance, and the band… It was a delightful, casual evening and a truly unique industry event.”
Monica Llamas, Senior Lighting Designer at Map Design Studio, is also on the organizing team: “The lighting community in New York is strong and ever-growing, and Moonlighting is a great example. It's a very human-centered event, with the intent to encourage camaraderie and creativity. Seeing all the artists’ work is like peeling off the layers of an onion, allowing us to see a new side of people.”
