Rita is the first woman President of the IES, with a lighting career spanning 35 years, starting in the mid-groovy-sixties by marketing HIGHER wattage incandescent lamps for the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company. While serving in various executive leadership roles with Westinghouse, Philips, Genlyte and the IES, she worked closely with allied industry associations such as IALD, providing oversight for the IALD Lighting Design Certification Program; USGBC, NEMA and as a long term committee member for ASHRAE Standards. She has received several distinguished honors and awards. Tonight she’ll share lessons she’s learned along the way, reflect on her term as IES President, shattering what had been exclusively a male role, impart career advice and essential life skills.
