The Light + Color Symposium, sponsored by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), is devoted to the exchange of lighting research and application. This symposium will connect the talents and expertise of the researcher, technologist and design professional to better understand the growing role of color as it applies to:
- Lighting
- Vision
- Perception
- Preference
- Metrics and Technology
Includes two unique features:
- A visit to select color testing laboratories at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
- Color demonstrations that illustrate some of the concepts discussed in the presentations
IES CEUs and AIA LUs continuing education credits will be available to symposium attendees.
Who Should Attend
Color researchers, designers and technologists with interest in applications to architectural lighting, textiles, theatrical lighting, equipment and instrument manufacturers, and more.
"Based on experience from prior IES symposia, bringing together researchers and practitioners has proven to be productive in generating dialogue on topics of special interest to both audiences. To stimulate the dialogue between light and color researcher and practitioner, we have invited speakers from a variety of perspectives. We have also included an experiential element to the topic of color by inviting companies to show color demonstrations, which will offer a unique experience for attendees."
—Pam Horner, Chair of the of the IES Symposium Committee
