Anna Kim
Controller, Enterprise Lighting Sales
Member of IESNYC Lumen Committee
IESNYC Bookkeeper
Q: How did you first get started in the lighting industry?
I started in the lighting industry as the assistant in the lighting department of an electrical distributor. I was there for a few months before moving to Enterprise Lighting Sales as Frank Conti’s executive assistant. With great guidance and support 14 years later (wow…!) I’m still here, having risen to the position of controller and loving every minute I spend with my lighting family.
Q: How did you first get involved in the IESNYC?
In 2005 Frank became the Lumen Journal co-chair. He invited me to join the Lumen committee and I have been on the committee ever since. I have held many roles, including table and ad sales, recruiting sponsors, journal layout and table manager. I would like to say that during that time, I have had a lot of help and support from ELS and fellow rep agencies. I have also done short stints on the ControlThis! committee and the Program committee, on which when I was involved my role was to solicit sponsors.
In 2006, I became the IESNYC Section’s bookkeeper. When the position opened up, Frank recommended me. I was studying accounting at Baruch at the time, so it was a good fit. I have been in charge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly financial statements. I work mostly with the Section president and the Section treasurer, but here to help the whole Section.
Q: In your opinion, what are the best assets of the IESNYC?
Even though I have been involved in the Section for years, I finally became a member in 2010. I think the people and the camaraderie are so important. There is something special about putting a face to a name.
Q: How do you see your role as a member?
As bookkeeper, I represent the Section to many people and, that said, I do it to the best of my ability. As a regular member, it’s my responsibility to help out whenever and wherever I can and join committees that can make use of my abilities.
