IESNYC Mentorship Program

The Guiding Lights Circle is an IESNYC mentorship initiative designed to enrich the careers of both seasoned and emerging professionals. Now entering its second year, this mentorship program aims to support and guide the next generation of aspiring lighting professionals by fostering professional growth, learning, and development within the industry. Mentees will be paired with accomplished mentors who have a proven track record in the field.

IESNYC Mentors

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the lighting industry.
  • Should possess a willingness to share knowledge and support mentees in their professional development.
  • Must be an IESNYC member

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, share industry knowledge, and support mentees in achieving their career goals.
  • Be available for monthly meetings and provide timely feedback and advice.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding any personal or professional information shared by the mentee.

IESNYC Mentees

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be Emerging Professionals in the lighting industry with less than 5 years of experience in the lighting industry.
  • Should demonstrate a commitment to their professional growth and a willingness to learn.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Engage actively in the mentorship process and take initiative in scheduling meetings.
  • Be open to feedback and willing to apply the guidance received.
  • Maintain professionalism and respect the mentor’s time and effort.

Program in Brief

  • Objective: The IESNYC Mentorship Program aims to support and guide the next generation of lighting professionals through mentorship.
  • Duration: The 2025 mentorship program will run for nine months, beginning September 15, 2025 to June 2026.
  • Feedback: Mid-program and end-of-program evaluations are required to improve the program for future participants.
  • Meetings: All participants are expected to meet one-on-one in-person, monthly, at mutually agreeable times. Participation in Mentee Workshops and networking events is highly encouraged.

Application Process Timeline

  • Application Period: June 2025 – August 8, 2025
  • Review Period: August 11 – August 22, 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance: August 29, 2025
