Director of Marketing
SLS

Q: How did you first get started in the lighting industry?
In 2018, I made the transition to the lighting industry following my experience in the fashion and financial sectors. I no longer wanted to live in a “The Devil Meets Prada” lifestyle. The desire for a new and stimulating opportunity – one that could harness my organized and structured nature while fueling my creative side – motivated my career change. Initially, I joined SLS as the Sales Coordinator and over time developed my skills and knowledge of the industry, eventually taking on the role of Director of Marketing.

The sales team and leadership at SLS have been instrumental in my development of knowledge of lighting and the industry. From day one, they’ve given me immense opportunity to learn, grow my skill set, and make connections within the industry. In the office, I’m known as the “Jack of all trades,” because I approach every task with the mindset that I can complete it and find a solution.

Q: How did you first get involved in the IESNYC?
When I initially joined SLS, participation in industry events was greatly encouraged and was an opportunity for me to network and gain knowledge. This helped me build relationships with colleagues in the industry and understand the various roles in the industry and how we all work together through "channels."

Q: How do you see your role as “Member of the Month” of the IESNYC?
As a member of the IESNYC, I deeply value my role in contributing to and fostering collaboration and connection within the lighting industry.

I enjoy actively engaging with the IESNYC Board of Managers, where I play an integral part in the behind-the-scenes efforts as the Board Admin. It's truly remarkable to witness the dedicated members of various committees coming together to meticulously orchestrate impactful programs and events, driven by innovative ideas and genuine intentions. The members of the board are passionate about the responsibility they hold and prioritize their position with what seems like ease, while managing their own professional and personal endeavors.

Q: In your opinion, what are the best assets of the IESNYC?
The first thing that comes to mind is community.

I appreciate that the IESNYC caters to different generations in the lighting industry and is inclusive with its programs and events throughout the year. I’m most excited to see the execution and hear feedback from the upcoming mentorship program, Guiding Lights Circle that kicks off in the upcoming months. In my opinion, I believe we all can learn and help one another through both our professional and personal experiences in life. This program is the perfect example of that.

The IESNYC does a great job of bringing together both entry-level and experienced members of the design community, providing opportunities for collaboration and connection within the lighting community. It's nice to see how we stick together in this small industry, especially in a city that can sometimes be overwhelming and difficult.
